MR & MRS A
Finally, another homegrown restaurant from a different city has reached the promise land and is currently located at one of the famous malls in Davao City.
Enter, BOY ZUGBA!
Originally from the land of sweet smiles, BOY ZUGBA is a bisaya-inspired restaurant that aims to give everybody from all walks of life a great dining experience without the need to break the bank.
Grilled and Cheesy delicacies, boodles and mouth-watering desserts are just some of the offerings at BOY ZUGBA.
Their first branch in Davao located at the roof deck of Abreeza Ayala Mall is quite spacious.
Beer Bottles as light covers. What a witty idea!
There are Bisaya hugot lines in thought bubbles posted on the walls which makes the dining experience more amusing. We personally had fun reading each hugot line while waiting for our food.
Bicycle wheels and colorful graffiti as added decors
Photos of some of BOY ZUGBA‘s celebrity visitors and brand ambassadors posted on one of the walls
ZUGGY (BOY ZUGBA‘s main character) chasing a fish, cow and chicken… each animal representing the types of delicacies that BOY ZUGBA offers (We did not see any Pig though for the pork category. We might have missed it)
WATERMELON COOLER (Php 160 per pitcher) – one of the best natural fruit drinks out there that can really quench one’s thirst is watermelon juice. A pitcher this size is already good for 3 to 5 people.
OH MY BAE-CON! (Php 180) – we are huge bacon fanatics but are used to the thin type of bacon being sold at the grocery. The one that BOY ZUGBA serves, on the other hand, is more thick in meat and fuller in flavor which is why this became an instant hit on our tongues and tummies. GRABE KALAMI, BAI!
SIZZLING BANGUS (Php 259) – Corn on Milk Fish? Who would have thought that corn on top of milk fish would actually go great together? When this was served on our table, we were quite skeptical about the combination. But after tasting this one, it was alright after all! This is actually the first time we tried corn as a side dish to milk fish. Oh, and another good point about this sizzling bangus is that it did not taste too salty like the other sizzling bangus dishes that we have tried before.
CHEEZZY CHORIZO (PHP 199) – Here’s another first on our list – cheese inside a chorizo? Like, seriously? But as expected, majority with anything that has CHEESE on it will definitely be delicious. And to be honest, THIS IS SO DELICIOUS!!!! This literally tickled our taste buds. Again, cheese inside a chorizo? There’s a first time for everything. Surprise, surprise! It tastes really good.
KINILAW SINAGULAN OG LATO (Php 195) – here’s one for kinilaw and lato fans out there. We’re not really huge fans of kinilaw though but we found this one delicious as well.
QUESO SCALLOPS (Php 230) – here’s another example that anything with CHEESE on, in, under food will definitely… DEFINITELY taste really good. Honestly, one order of QUESO SCALLOPS is not enough for us. Next time when we come back, we are getting two orders of this one. (Yes, it’s that yummy)
BAGOONG RICE PLATTER (Php 180) – most Filipinos love bagoong and we are no exception. That’s why we get disappointed when a bagoong infused dish is really bland. But this bagoong rice platter really killed it! The bagoong taste and aroma is so strong and flavorful. We recommend this as a partner for pork viands. Oh, and this platter is already good for 2 to 3 people.
GARLIC RICE PLATTER (Php 99) – this is already good for 2 to 3 people as well. we found the garlic rice very flavorful and generous with garlic.
A SLICE OF TABLEA CAKE (Php 110) – this dessert has DAVAO written all over it! Not bad for a Cagayan de Oro based restaurant to include this in their desserts menu. For people like us who are really into tablea, the taste and moistness left a good impression on us. We are getting a slice or two of this one again for sure.
MRS. A loves TABLEA CAKE
BAGETZ MEAL (Php 109) – this is one of their budget meals. Rice + a choice of either Chicken Inasal, Chicken BBQ, Pork BBQ, Lumpiang Kagubkob and Fried Chicken. This meal has the option to be upgraded. Just add 10 pesos for unli rice, another 10 pesos for a glass of iced tea, and another 10 pesos for a bowl of soup.
Aside from those mentioned above, BOY ZUGBA has a lot more to offer as evidenced by their colorful comic-inspired menu:
We just love the comic book concept of their menu. Featuring ZUGGY.
Look at all those mouth watering quenchers
Bagetz Meal of the budget conscious food lovers
They also have three BOODLE ATTACK packages that suit every groups’ food preference and ideal budget. It says on the menu that the boodle is good for 5 pax but when Mrs. A’s officemates tried it one Wednesday evening, they said that the boodle set was good more another additional person. It had very generous servings as well. Can’t wait for us to try it out soon with our family.
Delicious food and Wallet Friendly Prices – BOY ZUGBA is a PROUDLY BISAYA restaurant that will definitely make everybody keep on coming back for more.
BOY ZUGBA is located at the Roof Deck of Abreeza Ayala Mall, Davao City.
