I just love how food brings friends together especially when there’s a new restaurant in town. And that’s what my friends and I did one fine Saturday night. We heard about a newly opened Japanese restaurant in town so we decided to meet up and try it together.
Enter, Katsu Country.
From the Japanese word KATSU meaning fried, KATSU COUNTRY first opened its doors to the metro on March 18, 2017. When we went there, it was still on its soft opening. I personally love Japanese food that’s why I was a bit excited when we tried this place out.
THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR
I am quite impressed with the cleanliness of the place. The furniture chosen indeed matches the color of the walls and also on the ceiling. While the other decorations such as the paintings and plastic plants give more life to the place with their colors.
The Katsu Set’s price is relatively affordable. Plus, the serving was really generous. I honestly didn’t finish my Chicken set so Mr. A had to eat is for me. The mixture of Sesame Seeds and Tonkatsu sauce was really perfect to pair with the Katsu. What adds more fun to the experience is the pounding of the sesame seeds to achieve that powdered finish before mixing it with the Katsu Sauce. Other Katsu Sets they have are Shrimp (Php 260), Fish (Php 180) and Beef Menchi (Php 220). By the way, the rice that they serve is actually Red Rice topped with a few sesame seeds.
As for the Matcha Milkshake, I was hesitant in ordering it at first because I have tasted my fair share of Matcha Milkshakes before but wow, it was love at first taste! I seriously recommend it to everybody.
Other milkshakes available are Choco Malt Milkshake (Php 130), Yakult Milkshake (Php 125) and Mango Milkshake (Php 125)
Since the restaurant is still in its soft opening, their menu has limited food offerings. But looking at their menu, they do have quite a lot for just a mere soft opening. Soon, Katsu Country will add Ramen, Shibuya Toast and Katsudon to their menu.
I can’t wait to go back soon. Probably after Katsu Country’s Grand Opening. I will get myself another Chicken Katsu Set, another glass of Matcha Milkshake and probably try the Chicken Teriyaki Pasta.
Are you a Katsu lover like me? Then you can add this restaurant to your list!
KATSU COUNTRY is located at the Ground Floor of Junction Building, Emilio Jacinto Extension, Davao City (In front of Mercury Drug and near Central Bank). The restaurant is open every Mondays to Saturdays at 5PM to 10PM.
