Did somebody say FOODTRUCKS?
I became curious about Food Trucks. I have only tried side street food trucks while I was still living in Manila but never experienced something like that in Davao City. When I heard that there was going to be a Food Truck Festival in Davao City, I was immediately sold! Count me in! The event was just right before Davao Celebrates its 80th Araw ng Dabaw.
The event started in the late afternoon of March 10 (Friday) up to March 12 (Sunday). Since I didn’t have much to do while waiting for Mrs. A to finish work, I decided to go to SM Lanang Parking Lot B earlier to catch a glimpse of the tenants setting up their booths and food trucks.
I was also able to take a few photos as well before the people showed up. Here are some of the booths of the participants.
It was a mixture of both new homegrown restaurants, cafes and dessert places and also those franchised from outside the city. Of course, one of them is the famous Mang Danny’s Ice Cream – which lately has become a regular participant in weekend markets in malls, bazaars, etc.
Here are some of the food trucks that participated
Though the food trucks weren’t that many compared to the number of booths that participated, the event was still successful. I love how the food trucks outlined the area. It gave a different experience that wasn’t experienced before by Davaoeños.
Aside from the food trip experience, there was also a Street Chalk Competition held on Saturday, March 11 and a Dog Fashion Show on Sunday, March 12. These activities added to the total fun experience of the Food Truck Festival.
I would also like to highlight that the event was greatly secured by our hardworking police who manned the place morning ’til night. Kudos to you, gentlemen! Thank you for keeping the event safe and giving the citizens peace of mind. Tatak Davao!
